The other day I was invited to talk to a group of students at Alburgh Elem. The Ride to Remember is taking place July 30th from 6am to 5pm ending up at Wilkins Harley-Davidson in Barre ,VT. All money raised goes to the support of the VT Fallen Soldiers Memorial in the Randolph,VT Cemetary. First is DR.Feeley's Essex Family Dental Practice for donating 2 very large cases of toothpaste.Lots and Lots of toothpaste,such a very big thank you. Great Turnout for Valentines

We had a great turnout at Creative Habitat for making valentines.We all sorts,we had kids,we had teenagers,we had adults and we had their parents,too. What a good day.We collected well over 200 valentines to go to our soldiers.They will go in care packages,go to the VA Hospital,they'll go to the hospital in Germany and many other places.Thank you for helping.Thank you to FOX44NEWS and WCAX Channel 3 for coming over and filming the activities.Thanks again to Creative Habitat for having us and those that donated.You can still take part by dropping off cards and letters to Creative Habitat and tell them they are for our Soldiers and they'll get them to us.

Just got done meeting with Lisa Durocher's Business class at Lamoille Union High School.What a great group of young ladies.They have decided to step up and write letters to some soldiers and some have decided they will try to send care packages as well.How awesome is that.I also brought with me SPC.Erin Quinn whom we had adopted this past year and who is now home after her yr.deployment to Afghanistan.She helped greatly with giving them a female 's point of view as the class was all ladies.Lots of interesting discussion there.I am so honored to meet these young people and give them the chance to support our soldiers.It's so amazing to see their faces when you tell them something that they didn't realize was happening or see something they had never seen before.I love this part of my day the most.THANK YOU for letting me be part of your day.

My name is Aubrey Brueckner and I am coordinating the TREATS FOR OUR TROOPS project. The SBHS’s Coalition for Community Service (CCS) is leading the effort to create and send 500 individual care packages to members of the 172nd Cavalry unit who will be stationed in Afghanistan as of February/March 2010. These men and women are special people and consist of parents, neighbors, school friends, sons, daughters, aunts, uncles and members of our SB community.

This project is huge so we really need your help! It's The Start of a New Year

Well 2010 is here and so am I.I'm still sending care packages,still collecting supplies and still remembering our soldiers.Its been 6+ years now doing this and I haven't regretted one minute.My 2 latest soldiers,Brett and Chad will be coming home next month.What a pair they are.High strung and full of fun.I'll miss their notes.jokes and pic's for sure but they'll always be in our hearts.So now our next 2 are John B. and John A. We haven't heard a whole lot from them cause we know they are very busy but thats ok,they still need us here and thats what I strive to do.Please take a moment and adopt a soldier at SoldiersAngels .org there are several hundreds waiting for a package.

Today was a very good day.We were at Green Mtn.Harley in Essex Jct. for military appreciation day and we collected $340 in cash to send care packages overseas.No supplies but thats ok.Also a reminder if you want to adopt a soldier go to SOLDIERSANGELS.ORG and they can hook you up.Why not it only costs $11 a package.Just think,a soldier will know you care.thanks

Another great group of young adults.The school's 5 th grades were filled with lots of questions for myself and my special guest Staff Sgt. Seavers after our presentation.Aprox.40 kids heard from us about sending care packages to our soldiers and why it's needed.They were shown what a care package looks like and how much stuff you can actually put into one.Then Sgt. Seavers told of his deployment in Iraq and how much it ment to him to get these care packages.This was followed by a very active question and answer period.Examples of the questions asked were: How can you tell the difference between our soldiers and the terrorists? Do you use night vision goggles to look for bombs?Do you send joke gifts in all your care packages? Where do you find these bombs? What kind of animals did you see there? Lots of great questions and sorry to say not enough time to get to them all.The kids said they will write letters and cards to put into care packages that will be sent out to our soldiers.We love to talk to children,their vision is wide open and they see the whole picture and are not afraid to share their feelings.Thank you Mrs.Lowell for setting this up and good luck to your son,the marine,who will be soon deployed.We are very proud of him and tell him thank you for what he is about to do for us.

Great Day at Park St.School in Springfield,VT

What a great day friday was,I got to meet these awesome 3rd and 4th graders at Park St. School down in Springfield,VT. Thanks to their teacher Mrs.Rany,it was a very informative session.The kids all came in,sat down and we began.They were all very anxious to find out who I was and what I did.I explained how we ship care packages and why.I showed them what was in the packages including petey the screaming parrot,which they liked.Then I showed them pictures of some of the soldiers overseas and ones we have lost.The question period was very good,with lots of very good questions to be answered.Time ran out too soon but the kids needed to start working on their cards and letters to the soldiers.I would love to go there again,great kids ,great smiles and awesome teachers.Thank you all for a great day.

Well today BLUE Q donated over 200 cases of body wash,lip balm,soap and candy to be sent in care packages to our soldiers,WOW what a load of items.This all went to our new care package provider: OPERATION ADOPT A SOLDIER. They came up from Wilton, NY and picked it all up and will ship out asap.Now you are probably wondering why the new group.Well thanks to the IRS wanting a piece of non-profits money they have decided we owe aprox. $3000 in taxes for 3 months worth of shipping care packages.Where are we going to get that from? We're just a small time group of concerned citizens that want our soldiers to get something from home so they know we care.We don't have any money like that,what comes in goes out faster to ship our packages.So as of the end of this month HAVE A HEART/ADOPT A SOLDIER will no longer be alive.Gladys has to sell everything to raise the money for the taxes,it's not practical to try to stay afloat with all this GOV. CRAP. So we'll support the above group and continue on with them.Please continue to donate to me and I'll get it to them to get to our soldiers.thank you. Thank you both for your great donations.Amarah's Chocolates at Taft's Corners Williston,VT donated enough candy that over 100 care packages will get some sweets from VT. wow thank you so very much.They will just love the variety,licorice,nuts,snacks,sunflower and pumpkins seeds dipped in chocolate,mmmm sounds delicious. WOW, what a great job Cori Rockwood's "Far from Home" class did on Feb13th. They made almost 2 dozen blankets,collected 2 boxes of supplies and made 30 water bottle Easter Baskets.So cool.I went and spoke to the class and was very impressed by them.They see the Big Picture and they know what needs to be done.They know that our soldiers need to be supported as well as their families.The scope of their maturity isn't realized until projects like this take place.The thought that went into these blankets and Easter bottle baskets was awesome.I would have never thought to cut a water bottle in half,decorate it,put easter grass and candy in it and you have yourself a very cute gift for our Soldiers.I hope to hear from them again because these are the things that we need from our citizens,support for our soldiers.I would love to see the look on a soldier's face when they get these great gifts.If you get a moment please call the Lamoille Union Middle School in Hyde Park,VT and tell them how proud you are to hear about this class of students.I know I am very proud to have met these young adults,very proud to know them and extremely proud of what they have done for our Soldiers. The Kids are at it Again!!!

On Feb.13th I will be going to Lamoille Union Middle School where Cori Rockwood's class once again is supporting our Soldiers.They have so far made a dozen blankets to be shipped to wounded soldiers overseas.What an awesome group.This will be my first time to meet these young folks and I'm excited.They see the big picture and are willing to step up and do something about it.Next week I will post pictures and my reaction and their reaction will be posted.Please spread the word to other schools to have their classes take on projects.Write letters,make cards or anything else will help.Thank you Lamoille Union in Hyde Park.

I started today writing notes to some schools to see if any of the kids would be interested writing letters,cards and maybe collecting supplies for our care packages.If you know of any schools that would be interested send them my way,phone and email are here. Also Blue Q in Pittsfield,MA. has offered many cases of body wash and candy to donate and said if I had a cargo van or covered pickup they would fill it with cases. All I have to do is drive it down and back and they would fill it up.Anyone know where I could get one to borrow for the trip? We knew as the first of the year rolled around that donations would dropoff with the economy being as bad if not worst then we thought but it's alot worse then we thought.Donations are almost non exsistent,even from companies. What We Didn't See on The News

Emailed photos taken in Baghdad, Iraq show 1,215 uniformed servicemembers taking part in the single largest U.S. reenlistment ceremony since the all-volunteer force began in 1973 Amazing how the media is allowed to continue their bias & control what the average citizen sees every day on the news..... what a skewed concept it gives to what is really happening. Largest Re-enlistment Ceremony - Ever... I'm sure you already know about this. It was shown over and over on TV, right? OK, so maybe it wasn't shown over and over, but surely it was shown on TV at least one time, wasn't it ?
This was the largest re-enlistment ceremony ever held in military history. The ceremony was held on the 4th of July, 2008 at Al Faw Palace, Baghdad , Iraq . General David Petraeus officiated. This amazing story was ignored by the 'mainstream' media. For those who have been in the Al Faw Palace, you'll have a better appreciation of the number of people crammed around the rotunda supporting the re-enlisting soldiers. American men and women volunteering to stay longer in Iraq, so that when we leave, the new democracy will have a chance of surviving, is the exact opposite of what the media wants you to think about Iraq. If only a bomb had killed 5 civilians in a marketplace - now that's the kind of news the media is eager to tell you about. A pizzeria in Chicago donated 2000 pizzas that were made and shipped to Baghdad , and were delivered on the 4th. The media did report that 2000 pizzas were sent to Iraq on July 4th... The only part they left out of the report was the event for which the pizzas were sent. I can't help but wonder... What would the opinion of Americans be if they weren't getting such obviously biased 'news?' Pass this on and we will do the work for the Media.

Well here it is,the after the Holidays withdrawals. Now the real slow down in donations will take place. We all know how bad the economy is,we're all in it together but please look around and see what you could possibly do to help our soldiers and their families. A card,letter,cookies,supplies,money or just about anything , we'll send it overseas, we're low on everything.We sound like the Food Bank,Salvation Army and United Way rolled all up together but we need your help,too.We are a non-profit,too and are a tax deduction if you are looking for an angle.Please help us. Here's a bright spot,the Lamoille Valley Middle School are making blankets to send to our Soldiers and I'll be over there Feb.13th to meet these great young adults.By the way it's their second year doing this.Thank you

AWESOME GLOVER 4TH GRADERS

WOW,AWESOME,FANTASTIC, just a few words to describe Mrs.Baker's and Mrs.Leblanc's 4 grade class at Glover Community School.They collected in 4 weeks,over 100 pairs of sox,100 toothbrushes,toothpaste,floss,foot powder.Incredible accomplishment.Not only that but the project was started by the students themselves first, then the teachers guided them along.The respect and priviledge of getting to know these kids is overwhelming.I am so honored that they shared their time with me and allowed me to get to know them.What great people they are.There are not enough words that I can share that tells you how I feel about these kids,the very biggest of THANK YOU'S go out to them for what they have done for our soldiers.Their parents and teachers should be very very proud of what their children are turning into,very special human beings,thank you kids.So now let me rewind it alittle bit and tell you how it all started. In Oct. I sent out a small but pointed news blurb to the radio stations and newspapers that our organization had run out of sox for our soldiers for the first time.The article was printed in the Newport Daily Express paper.In the mornings the students and teachers read the paper.They read the article and the kids thought they could help.Shortly thereafter I get a phone call from a very fine 4th grader,she made the first contact with me and wanted to know what they could do to help,I explained what we do and what they could do.She proceeded to relay the info to her teachers,they had group meetings,designed collection boxes,put out the boxes and collected those amazing totals.A date was setup with me to meet with them,describe to all about what we do and then for me to say THANK YOU. I hope to never loose contact with these great young adults,I am so very proud of them,they are our future,wow are we in good hands.

On June 6th and 7th Martha and I went to Gettysburg,PA to support Freedom Alliance,this group gives scholarships to children that have lost a parent in the war or one that has gotten seriously wounded.What an event! $10,000 was raised to put into this great organization. The Dream Cruisers PT Club kicked off their third fundraiser for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund on June 6 th & 7 th at The Outlet Shoppes in Gettysburg, PA. While the weather was HOT and steamy everyone rallied to the cause. Through selling cash raffle tickets, Chinese Raffle tickets, the 50/50 raffle and t-shirt sales we were able to raise $9,830.00. A check, as well as money raised through t-shirt sales, were presented to Shannon Sullivan who was there representing the Freedom Alliance. Since the event, more cash has come in and our grand total on money raised for the Freedom Alliance Scholarship Fund is now at $10,000.00 We have not only met our goal but we have surpassed it. Everyone worked hard very hard to make this happen. A good job was done by all.

This event was May 23rd in Morrisville,VT put on by the Lamoille Valley Cruisers. The weather sucked but we had a great turnout.We collected $605 cash and 8 large boxes of supplies.We had 35 classic cars present as well as 2 PT'S. We had a hurricane with hail at 3pm,cloudburst at 5pm and a closing downpour at 9pm.Soggy wouldn't describe it.The diehards were there and the results were great.Thank you to our Hosts: Lamoille Valley Cruisers and Hoagies Pizza.Great job all.

The other day I got a note from a mother of a 6 year old,the 2 of them decided that for his birthday they would collect supplies to be sent in care packages for our soldiers.The little one was ok with that.Yesterday that family arrived at my house with a big,decorated box of goodies for our soldiers.AWESOME!!!!! Is the only word to describe how I felt about what this child and mother have done together.Here is several shots of his box,we are using this box over in NY to collect supplies and when asked about this box we will proudly say that a very important young person did this for our soldiers.Thank you so very much.

I am sorry to say that the collection barrel at Shelburne Health and Fitness has been removed.The owner and their board decided it supported the war and wanted it removed.Too bad that tunnel vision like this costs our soldiers and family members from getting alittle sign of hope and compassion from friends back home.A care package shows them that we support them and their families left behind and that we are here for them.I really hope that there are more people in this state that want to support them rather then the few that are narrow minded.Our effort is not if you support the war or not but rather we care about the well being of our soldiers while they are away and their families here at home.By the looks of these pictures,donations are good and our Soldiers appreciate the care packages.Thank you to those that support our efforts.

Many Soldiers are going without care packages right now cause funds and supplies are drying up.I know things are very tuff for everyone,myself included,but think how tough it is for a soldiers family on a very limited income and the need is great.Many soldiers are the sole bread winners of their families and that income has now been cut cause he has been called into service.We need to dig down to share alittle with our soldiers.We're not asking for alot,we're not asking for alittle,we're just asking for something to help them.New troop deployments are going on,soldiers coming home,new ones going overseas.We need sponsors and we need supplies.A care package costs $9 to ship.You can sponsor a soldier each month for $10.This gets them a care package from home,from you to them.I sponsor 3,I'm asking you to sponsor one for at least 6 months.I can waste $30 a month,don't you waste $10 a month? I know we do,so lets put it to good use and care for someone.It's also TAX DEDUCTIBLE!!!! So please dig down and think of that soldier who isn't hearing from home and we have heard of many that don't hear anything from home at all,THATS SAD AND SHAMEFUL! Please step up and help,thank you

WITH MEDALS AND BADGES,AWARDS OF ALL KINDS, A SOBER THOUGHT CAME THROUGH MY MIND. FOR THIS HOUSE WAS DIFFERENT,IT WAS DARK AND DREARY, I FOUND THE HOME OF A SOLDIER,ONCE I COULD SEE CLEARLY. THE SOLDIER LAY SLEEPING,SILENT, ALONE, CURLED UP ON THE FLOORIN THIS ONE BEDROOM HOME. THE FACE WAS SO GENTLE, THE ROOM IN SUCH DISORDER, NOT HOW I PICTURED A UNITED STATES SOLDIER. WAS THIS THE HERO OF WHOM I'D JUST READ? CURLED UP ON A PONCHO,THE FLOOR FOR A BED? I REALIZED THE FAMILIES THAT I SAW THIS NIGHT, OWED THEIR LIVES TO THESE SOLDIERS WHO WERE WILLING TO FIGHT. SOON ROUND THE WORLD,THE CHILDREN WOULD PLAY, AND GROWNUPS WOULD CELEBRATE A BRIGHT CHRISTMAS DAY. THEY ALL ENJOYED FREEDOM EACH MONTH OF THE YEAR, BECAUSE OF THE SOLDIERS,LIKE THE ONE LYING HERE. I COULDN'T HELP WONDER HOW MANY LAY ALONE, ON A COLD CHRISTMAS EVE IN A LAND FAR FROM HOME. THE VERY THOUGHT BROUGHT A TEAR TO MY EYE, I DROPPED TO MY KNEES AND STARTED TO CRY. THE SOLDIER AWAKENED AND I HEARD A ROUGH VOICE,"SANTA DON'T CRY, THIS LIFE IS MY CHOICE;I FIGHT FOR FREEDOM,I DON'T ASK FOR MORE, MY LIFE IS MY GOD,MY COUNTRY, MY CORPS". THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER AND DRIFTED TO SLEEP, I COULDN'T CONTROL IT,I CONTINUED TO WEEP. I KEPT WATCH FOR HOURS,SO SILENT AND STILL AND WE BOTH SHIVERED FROM THE COLD NIGHT'S CHILL. I DIDN'T WANT TO LEAVE ON THAT COLD, DARK, NIGHT, THIS GUARDIAN OF HONOR SO WILLING TO FIGHT. THEN THE SOLDIER ROLLED OVER,WITH A VOICE SOFT AND PURE,WHISPERED, "CARRY ON SANTA,IT'S CHRISTMAS DAY, ALL IS SECURE." ONE LOOK AT MY WATCH,AND I KNEW HE WAS RIGHT "MERRY CHRISTMAS MY FRIEND,AND TO ALL A GOOD NIGHT." This poem was written by a Marine. The following is his request. I think it is reasonable.....PLEASE. What an awesome showing,not only was it a success ( 38 bags of Supplies ) we collected $1071 in cash enough to ship 107 care packages! What a day,not only that but included in that $1071 was was $445 donated by an 11yr.old 5th grader from Founders School in Essex .She wanted to do something for our Soldiers for her birthday so she had her classmates all get together and they collected that money for us.What an incredible little girl.She also donated money to a group that works with blind people.She was so impressive that Hoagies is giving her and 10 of her friends a free pizza party.It just proves that many of our youth have been brought up with very high standards.We also had Sgt.Bob Seavers with us and he got to see first hand the true support that VT gives to our Soldiers.What a day.So everyone lets not stop there,lets keep giving to our soldiers and show them we are here for them.Remember we send care packages every week,52 weeks of the year and we will send them as long as our men and women are overseas.Contact me here or 802-879-6068.Thank you everyone.

Halloween for Our Soldiers

On Oct.26th, a Friday, I will be at Hoagies Pizza and Pasta shop in Essex Ctr. on Rte 15 collecting supplies for our Soldiers care packages.Being the weekend before Halloween we thought it would be a great idea to bring as much Halloween candy as you can,as well as other supplies,to be sent to our Soldiers Overseas.It is the start of the Holiday Season and our Soldiers need to be included not forgotten.If you bring bags of candy or bags of supplies to this event you will get a coupon worth 10% off your purchase at Hoagies.Also a special guest will be with us that day,Sgt.Bob Seavers will be there to answer questions and to lend his support to our event.Sgt.Seavers just returned from his year of deployment in Iraq.He was on the receiving end of many care packages and he wants to tell you what a difference it made when one arrived.The times will be 11am to 9pm,rain or shine.So please come out and spread some Halloween cheer to our Soldiers.

I am doing another supply drive for our Soldiers.It will be on Sept.5th in Morrisville,VT. at the WLVB radio station on Rte.15 in Morrisville across from the Citgo Station.It will be 9-5,rain or shine.We need many items for our care packages that we send to our Soldiers.Items such as white cotton sox,toothpaste,toothbrushes,hard candy,gum,small cans of fruit,beef jerky,letters and notes from you to them,small games,packages of tunafish,and any other items that would fit into a 11"x 8.5" x 5.5" standard postal box.No glass containers,aersol cans or homemade food items.More items can be found on our website www.usahelp.us .
